Lisa Cook is a learning and development specialist and content writer who believes we learn more when we learn together. Her mission is to encourage growth, solve problems, and advocate for others through her writing, instructional design, and workshop facilitation.

She spent nearly two decades fulfilling this mission in public education as a high school English teacher, special education case manager, Autism Network sponsor, and student council sponsor. Her DEI journey began in 2001 as a participant in a racial identity development research group after which she delivered equity awareness training for her university’s faculty and spoke at trustee events. In her work with students with disabilities, she’s seen firsthand how cultivating inclusive environments and implementing equitable design serve people with different needs to thrive in a system that was not built with them in mind. She also served on the professional development committee and equity committee at the high school where she taught in Austin, Texas and understands how creating real systemic change that makes a difference takes more than a few individuals with good intentions.

Lisa is an introvert who is not afraid of taking risks. She’s hiked the Camino de Santiago across Spain twice and enjoys taking solo cross-country road trips. In her free time, she loves to play nerdy board games, solve crossword puzzles, and learn about a variety of topics.
